Highlighting Our Team: Naomi Borg, A Journey of Growth at Lidion Bank

At Lidion Bank, we take immense pride in the dedication and growth of our team members. Today, we are excited to shine a spotlight on Naomi Borg, our Financial Crime Compliance Manager and Deputy MLRO. Naomi joined us in 2021 and has been an essential part of our team ever since. Her journey with us highlights the many opportunities for professional and personal growth that Lidion Bank offers. We sat down with Naomi to learn more about her role, her experiences, and her advice for those considering a career in financial services.

1. Can you tell us about your journey with Lidion Bank and what initially attracted you to work here?

I joined the Bank back in 2021. Having previously worked at a local CSP, I was always intrigued by the banking sector, and it was always a dream of mine to join a bank. Lidion Bank gave me that opportunity together with continuous other opportunities and ensured my career growth both from a professional aspect but even on a personal level.

2. What is your role at Lidion Bank, and what are your primary responsibilities?

I am the Financial Crime Compliance Manager at Lidion Bank and I am responsible for the day-to-day functions of the department, making sure the Bank is conducting its business in full compliance with the applicable laws and regulations and finally ensuring a healthy relationship between the Bank and the regulators.


3. What does a typical day or week look like for you in your role?

No day is a typical day at the office and that is what makes the job all the more interesting. I usually start the day by prioritizing the tasks due, and part of my role is also delegation within the department. Our department is focused on working hand in hand to collectively reach one goal, that is, assisting the other departments in their line of work and acting as a support role for the benefit of the Bank and its clients.

4. What do you enjoy most about working at Lidion Bank?

I did not only find experienced individuals at the Bank, who were ready to share their expertise and knowledge, giving me the opportunity to constantly learn and grow, but I also found a second family. I believe that working in a comfortable environment is an essential part of one’s employment and Lidion Bank and my colleagues are providing that. Lastly, the support and trust I constantly receive from my superior is a driver that keeps my pushing for the better everyday.

5. How would you describe the company culture at Lidion Bank?

Lidion Bank is committed to focus on sustainable growth while keeping customer satisfaction one of its main priorities. During my time at Lidion, I saw it revolutionising the banking experience it offers, servicing various industries including digital technologies and advertising. Being part of this growth has brought a great sense of satisfaction to my career.

6. What are you passionate about outside of work?

Spending time with my family and friends is probably one of my strongest passions, its nice to go home after a day’s work and unwind with some family time. I love travelling and visiting the world, one place at a time. I also love reading anything from novels to general knowledge.

7. How is Lidion Bank supporting your passions?

8.What advice would you give to someone considering a career in Financial Services?

The Financial Services market has an infinite amount of opportunities to offer. The greatest piece of advice is to approach the career with a mindset that you never know enough! As times are evolving, and the market is becoming more stringent, laws and regulations are continuously being updated and one needs to be proactive in ensuring they are always compliant. A career in Financial Services can be a very rewarding and it has provided me with the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

9. Share one thing that few people know about you

I get compliments on my cooking skills, being a foodie, I love experimenting in the kitchen and always try to experiment with new flavours. My favourite cuisine is hands down Asian!
